SKIN CARE DURING AND AFTER PREGNANCY

sooo exciting

Pregnancy is a special and exciting time for many women.
A small miracle is born!
The true miracle that a woman’s body performs can hardly be put into words.
But one thing is certain – this task is naturally a great challenge for the body and it urgently needs support and care, especially during this time.
The growing baby bump pushes the skin to its limits and stretch marks can appear.  🩵 What the skin does during pregnancy Not only does up to two liters more blood flow through a pregnant woman’s body, but the skin on the stomach is also put to an extraordinary test and stretched.
A light massage with a high-quality skin care oil is recommended right from the start to prevent stretch marks – also known as striae.
These tears in the connective tissue initially appear with a reddish discoloration and after scarring, the color changes and they appear whitish.
The stripes can appear not only on the abdomen, but also on the breasts, buttocks or thighs.
The appearance of the skin itself also changes during pregnancy and acne can occur due to increased sebum production.
In addition, brown discoloration can occur in areas of the skin due to increased pigmentation – but this can be avoided as far as possible by using good sun protection.
This change normally disappears again after pregnancy.  🩵 Here we have tips to prevent / reduce stretch marks:

  • Use moisturizing or binding products such as rich, natural oils to keep the skin supple right from the start.
Regular applications are the be-all and end-all!
It is best to gently massage the stomach twice a day with a rich oil, especially after showering.
  • Make sure you drink enough water!
Well-hydrated skin is more elastic and less prone to stretch marks.
  • A healthy diet is not only important for the child’s development, but can also help to prevent rapid weight gain during pregnancy.
Be sure to follow your doctor’s recommendations.
  • Despite careful care, stretch marks cannot always be completely prevented, as genetic factors can also play a role.

🩵 S ubstances that should be avoided at all costs in skincare products Did you know that some substances – including those in skincare products – can be potentially harmful to the unborn child?
In general, you should use natural and harmless products that are suitable for sensitive skin, especially during pregnancy.
The skin absorbs the substances and these can be passed on to the unborn child.
It is always advisable to seek advice from a doctor or midwife.
Harmful substances include, for example, retinoids (retinol and retinyl palmitate, benzolyperoxide, hydroquinone and certain substances such as plasticizers (phthalates).
The latter can increase the risk of allergic asthma in the unborn child.
Certain peelings with salicylic acid or trichloroacetic acid must not be used during pregnancy.
Vitamin A, retinol or retinoids should be avoided during pregnancy, whether in body care or as a dietary supplement.
The body already absorbs enough of this vitamin from the diet.
Too much vitamin A can harm the child!  🩵 Birth and the time afterwards: The little miracle is here!
At the same time, it means a big change for the body and time for regeneration.
After pregnancy, the skin should therefore continue to be regularly cared for and massaged with a suitable care oil.
This promotes recovery!
Adequate care of caesarean section scars or other birth injuries is very important to support healing and improve the appearance of the scar, as well as to prevent hardening of the scar tissue.
Keep the scar clean and dry and care for it regularly.
Important: Scars take time to heal, so be patient and give your skin the opportunity to regenerate.
With the right care, the duration can be shortened a little and unpleasant feelings of tension can be reduced.
If you have any questions about caring for your caesarean section scar, it is best to speak to your doctor.  🩵 Product recommendations:
